About Me

Welcome to Paper Creek Co. Online Store!

If you've known me a long time, you'll know I earned a BFA in visual arts in printmaking, interned in paper conservation and bookbinding in Israel, worked in the Archives at the Baha'i National Centre in Toronto, worked as a technician and office manager of a fine art handling and installation company in Ottawa, taught bookbinding courses and retreats as a partner with BeetleBarrow Books, bound books at a binding and finishing company...

And of course, have been coached businesses to achieve more time, money, and build a rockstar team in Niagara.

And so Paper Creek brings me back to my roots as an artist and serving the arts community.

Washi is a gorgeous paper with so many varieties in colour and texture, and infinite creative versatility.

It's truly a sustainable method for making paper as the plants it is made from grow back each year and can be harvested for up to 40 years. There are no harmful chemicals used in making washi, and sheets are made in family papermaking studios in Japan.

It is a superior surface for printmaking, drawing, painting, collage, calligraphy... Artists outside of Japan, have been seeking it out since the mid-19th century. Washi looks delicate, but is very strong and definitely worth trying out.

I'm tempted to carry on about the many many ways washi can be used - my inner paper geek is busting out - but to keep this from being a novel, I'll invite you to follow PaperCreek on Facebook: Paper Creek Co. and Instagram: www.instagram.com/papercreekco , and continue to dig into this website: www.papercreek.ca where I'll be sharing what's in stock, tutorials, and the beauty and fun of working with washi!

Here's a few of the many ways japanese paper is used:

  • Origami (great gift)
  • Printmaking
  • Bookbinding and book arts
  • Book repair
  • Art conservation
  • Card-making
  • Invitations
  • Marbling (suminagashi)

  • Product packaging
  • Interior design
  • Decorative items

Glad you're with me on this ride, be happy and have fun!
